The Hertog Foundation is now accepting applications for its Summer 2026 fellowships. We offer residential summer programs that allow our fellows to study in an intensive seminar setting with outstanding faculty and engaged peers.

Political Studies Program

    • Eligibility: Any college or university undergraduate, or very recent graduate (2025 or 2026) not already pursuing an advanced degree, may apply to the Political Studies Program.
    • Location: Washington, DC
    • Duration: 6-week program, June 14–July 25, 2026
    • Stipend: Residential accommodations, some meals, and a $3,000 stipend to offset travel and living expenses
    • Deadline: 01/20/26 (Early) | 02/24/26 (Final)

Political Studies explore the theory and practice of politics in an intensive seminar setting with outstanding faculty. Fellows take courses in a wide variety of subjects, from political philosophy to contemporary public affairs, from economics to foreign policy. In the afternoons and evenings, they have the opportunity to hear from leaders in American government and politics.

Security Studies Program

    • Eligibility: Advanced undergraduates, recent graduates, and young professionals are all eligible to apply.
    • Location: Washington, DC
    • Duration: 5-week program, June 14–July 18, 2026
    • Stipend: Residential accommodations, some meals, and a $2,500 stipend to offset travel and living expenses
    • Deadline: 01/20/26 (Early) | 02/24/26 (Final)

Security Studies offer fellows an intensive learning experience focused on the most difficult national security challenges facing the United States today. Each seminar will provide a practitioner’s view of national security, led by faculty who have direct experience forming and advising U.S. foreign policy.

Constitutional Studies Program

    • Eligibility: Advanced undergraduates, recent graduates, law students, and young professionals are all eligible to apply.
    • Location: Washington, DC
    • Duration: 2-week program, May 31–June 13, 2026
    • Stipend: Residential accommodations, some meals, and a $1,000 stipend to offset travel and living expenses
    • Deadline: 01/20/26 (Early) | 02/24/26 (Final)

Constitutional Studies examine America’s constitutional history through some of the most significant conflicts and debates. The program will also feature guest lectures from Supreme Court litigators, legal scholars, journalists, and judges, and policymakers who will bring their practical experience to bear on key constitutional questions.

War Studies Program

    • Eligibility: Graduating seniors (2026), rising seniors (2027), and exceptional rising juniors (2028)
    • Location: Washington, DC
    • Duration: 2-week program, Late July–Early August
    • Stipend: Stipend of $1,500 in addition to housing, meals, and subsidized transportation
    • Deadline: 01/20/26 (Early) | 02/24/26 (Final)

War Studies, run by the Institute for the Study of War, aim to educate undergraduate students about the theory, practice, organization, and control of war and military forces. Over the course of the program, students will learn from and interact with distinguished senior leaders in the national security and military communities.
